Data Management Workspace in D365FO
In this entry we will learn how to export and import data in Microsoft Dynamics 365 thanks to this small guide.

- Creating Import/Export Projects
To access to the data management workspace, click, in the start menu, in the data management workspace.
Once you enter in the data management workspace, you can create new projects for export and import information of the system.
- Export Projects.
Fill the fields “Group Name” and “Descriptions” with the name of the project.
Click on Add Entity display button and select the “Entity Name” you want to export and the “Target Data Format” selecting the format file that you want to export.
Once you select these options click on the add button, and the entity will de added to the list of exports.
As many entities as needed can be selected for exporting and importing data at the same time. There is no need to create a project for each entity. As shown in the next image.
Once you have selected all the entities needed for export, click on the export button to run the export.
A new form will show up, click on refresh button until the status change to “Succeeded”. Once the export is ended, click on “Download Package” to download the entities just exported.
Finally, both Excel will be Exported and can be opened as shown in the next image.
- Import Projects
As shown before, create a new import project. And fill the fields “Group Name” and “Description”.
Click on the Add File to display the upload menu. Select first the “Entity Name” and click on the upload and add button to select the file that you are going to import (The field “Source Data Format” will be automatically filled by the system).
Same way as export process, more than one entity can be imported in the same project.
On import process, depending on the relations of the entities that are going to be imported, it will be important to review the sequence order. In this case the “Terms of Payment” will be imported first, and the “Fixed Asset Groups” will be the second one. This order can be changed, the “Sequence” field is editable, so if is needed the fixed asset group can be imported first and make the terms of payment be imported after.
Once all the entities and the sequence order are correctly selected, click on the “Import” Button, and the next form will appear. Click on “Refresh” button until all entities are Succeeded as shown in the next image.
In the entity processing status, will show, per line, the records created, updated and the total records for each entity that has been imported.
