Microsoft Excel Addins is a new functionality integrated with D365 F&O with which you can create, edit and delete records and publish them instantly in D365. To show how it works, I will create a general journal from which I am going to create some lines and publish them in D365. The first step is to create the general journal and enter the lines form for that journal.
To open the journal lines form with the Microsoft Excel Addins, click on the Office 365 icon and the “General Journal Line Entry” option.
Finally, click on “Download” to download the Excel file.
Once the file has been downloaded, an Excel will be open with the information of the journal lines in addition to the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in.
As you can see in the previous image, you can see the journal number, type of journal, etc. in which you are working and above of it the lines of that journal. The first step would be to create a new line, in order to do this, click on the new button in the Microsoft Add-in part. At that time a line will be created to introduce the required information.
To enter this required information in each field, the Microsoft Add-In will detect for each of the fields the type of field it is and will give you the information to select it in the Add-In itself. For example, a date type field will show you a calendar in which you click on the date and it will automatically fill in the date field selected and with the format date configured in D365.
It is also important to comment that the fields of drop-down type, for example, the “Company” or “Account Type” fields inform for which company is the journal line being created for or the type of account is been selected. Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-In searches D365 for information and displays all the options for the user to choose the corresponding one.
Finally, I must add that, depending on the form, there may be fields that are automatically filled in the system and that the user mustn´t modify as the case of the “Line Number” field. To identify these types of fields, in the Excel file will appear above those fields the phrase «Do not change» to show the user not to modify that field.
Once all the necessary information has been introduced, click on “Publish” to upload all the information to D365.
Refresh in D365 the form of the lines of this newspaper and you can see the published lines created through the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-In.
